Contesting Property Taxes

One of the most important rights you have as a taxpayer is your right to protest your tax appraisal value to the appraisal review board (ARB). Any ARB decision can be appealed to the state district court in the county in which the property is located. The stronger the evidence that you present the more likely you are to reduce your tax value.

If you are dissatisfied with your appraised value or if there are errors in the appraisal records regarding your property you can file a Form 50-132, Notice of Protest with the ARB. After filing your protest, you will receive written notice of the date, time, place, and subject matter for a formal hearing with the ARB. You can also request an informal conference with the appraisal district to try to resolve your protest before the ARB hearing.

Maverick Appraisals can help you present strong evidence with a data-driven appraisal for your home.
